About the studio
Mama & Little Bath Atelier is a bathroom styling practice on Utrecht’s Oudegracht. These five answers cover who we are, how we work with canal-house limits, and what stays outside our fee.

Sofie van Dijk leads layout and client workshops after years coordinating residential fit-outs across the Randstad. Mara Elbers owns tile and finish selection, drawing on time as a ceramic buyer in Utrecht showrooms. Lars de Boer turns sketches into dimensioned plans plumbers can price. The same three people stay on a project from first measure to final walkthrough.
- Why is the studio named Mama & Little?

The name points to mornings when a parent and a child share one mirror—not to nursery branding. Bathrooms remain adult rooms that must also welcome smaller bodies without cartoon fixtures. Soft light, durable surfaces, and storage that hides bath toys without hiding soap sit at the centre of every brief.
- How does Utrecht housing shape your method?

Canal-house risers, shallow floor depths, and narrow stairs decide what fits before any mood board starts. We refuse layouts that ignore waste positions. If a freestanding tub cannot sit where falls allow, we redraw the room. Lombok slopes and Wittevrouwen timber floors push us toward wet-room detailing and sealed finishes rather than niches that trap mould.
- Do you install plumbing or tile?

No. We plan layout, materials, lighting, and storage, then hand schedules to trades you hire. Fees stay in euros on our invoices; labour and product purchases sit with contractors and suppliers. That split keeps accountability clear when two households share decisions after a move.
- When can clients visit Oudegracht 158?

Desk hours run Monday to Friday, 09:30–17:00, by appointment. Friday mornings are reserved for sample reviews at the canal-side studio. We do not run a walk-in retail shop; booking keeps the table clear for tile boards and vanity samples that need space. Home surveys across Utrecht can start earlier when families need an evening slot.
